If you’ve got a future Taylor Swift or Michael Bublé under your roof, vocal lessons are the secret weapon they need to take their singing to the next level. Sure, your kid might already be belting out their favorite tunes with confidence (and probably at full volume), but trust me, there’s a whole world of technique and artistry waiting to be discovered.
You might have heard these terms used interchangeably, but here’s how they differ:
At The Music Studio Atlanta, we tailor lessons based on age, music genre, and student goals, ensuring every student gets the right fit.
1. Pitch Perfection
Have you ever heard someone singing and thought something was just not quite right? Usually it’s pitch. One of the most common surprises for young singers is realizing their pitch isn’t quite as spot-on as they thought.
2. Breath Control
Breath control is another key focus of vocal training. Knowing when and how to breathe strategically during a song is the difference between soaring through a high note or running out of air mid-chorus.
Important Tip: Coaches teach proper breathing techniques that also keep vocal cords healthy—please make sure to not send your kid to any rock school that teaches yelling or forcing the voice through inappropriate song choices for their natural vocal range. We have seen kids over the years with damaged voices after transferring to us from a summer camp with untrained voice teachers.
3. Physical Engagement
Then there’s the physical part of singing. Many students realize they’re not opening their mouths enough to let the sound out. This might seem simple, but it’s harder than it looks!
4. Discovering Resonance
Speaking of resonance (sound quality), it’s a revelation for many singers. For example, students who struggle with high notes often discover that with proper resonance, their higher register is actually their strongest. It’s so rewarding to hear young singers confidently hit notes they had no idea they could - and how proud and confident they are afterwards!
5. Building Community
Finally, vocal lessons provide a sense of community. Watching other beginners improve and perform in informal performance settings like our Open Mic Nights or relaxed recitals are incredibly inspiring and motivating. It reminds young singers they’re not alone on their journey—and that everyone starts somewhere!
Whether your child dreams of being Taylor Swift or just wants to rock their school talent show, vocal lessons offer so much more than better pitch and control. They help build confidence, protect vocal health, and teach skills that last a lifetime.
Let’s make it happen with singing lessons near you at either our Smyrna/Vinings/Mableton or East Cobb location or the comfort of your own home!
